Responding to a calling attention notice, Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari said that investigations are underway in the gruesome incident of rape and murder of a minor girl in Abbottabad. She said that DNA samples of about 800 people have been taken.
To another calling attention notice, Dr Mazari said Pakistan desires cordial relations with India. She, however, regretted the recent incident of detention of a Pakistani diplomat in India, saying the Indian High Commission was summoned and issued a demarche to him. She said it was a clear violation of Vienna Convention. She said India is resorting to such tactics out of political compulsions.
Replying to a question, Minister for Energy Omar Ayub Khan said that a total of Rs. 122.737 billion dues of electricity are outstanding against the federal government, which included AJK's Rs 112.094 billion. Likewise, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan had outstanding power dues of Rs. 30.034 billion. He also said that circular debt payable to power producers as on December 31 last was Rs 683.484 billion and another Rs 124.403 billion were payable to fuel suppliers by GENCOs while the total circular debt stood at Rs 807.887 billion.
